Current ProjectsRunning South, Facing North- vast mountain ranges & concrete expanses - a dance collaboration with Project Description Bringing together three Yukon artists, and two Montreal artists, Running South, Facing North will explore contradictions and similarities between urban and rural life in Canada both in relationship to land and to community. To put it simply this piece is about what it is like to grow-up in the Yukon and then move south. The rehearsal process was entirely site-specific taking place in the Yukon and Montreal. The landscape literally dictated how the piece evolves. This work is a multimedia collaboration between dancers, composers, community members, and video artists under the facilitation of Ilona Dougherty, that will aim make an audience accessible modern dance work. Running South, Facing North will be performed both in the theatre and outside thus stretching the boundaries of what site specific really means. Ongoing interaction with the community through the rehearsal and performance processes will be integral to the piece, and a broad marketing campaign both through this website and on the ground will allow this piece to be accessed by a diverse public. |
